Woman remanded for stealing €40,000 from Limassol home

A 43-year-old woman was remanded in custody for six days by Limassol district court on Wednesday in connection with the theft of €40,000 in cash from a Limassol home on Monday.

The Cyprus News Agency reported that the suspect had returned €39,550 to police.

The woman, who works as a house cleaner, was arrested on Tuesday night after publication of a photo from CCTV footage allegedly showing her outside the home at the time of the burglary.

The suspect, who worked occasionally as a cleaner at the home belonging to a 52-year-old woman allegedly admitted during questioning to taking the money and returned €39,550. The complaint for the theft was for €40,000.
