Child pornography arrest

×ÅÉÑÏÐÅÄÅÓ

A 43-year-old man was remanded by Nicosia district court for six days after being arrested for the possession and distribution of child pornography, police said on Wednesday.

The man was arrested on Wednesday after the police cybercrime unit received information from Europol about an individual who shared two videos depicting child sexual abuse with someone else over social media.

The crimes were committed on February 13 and April 28, according to police.

A warrant for the man’s arrest was issued after the cybercrime unit confirmed he was the account holder sharing the videos. He was arrested around 9am on Wednesday.

His home was searched and police seized a laptop and two mobile phones.

The case is still under investigation.
