Coronavirus: Two businesses, 40 individuals fined for breaking protocols

Two businesses, a betting shop and a hotel, were together fined €500 each during 3,748 checks for coronavirus measures violations, police said on Friday.

The Nicosia-based hotel was booked €500 because a customer was found without a SafePass after 1,333 checks in the district. During the checks, five individuals were also fined.

Police said a betting shop also received a €500 fine after just 169 checks in Paphos during which four people were also booked for violating Covid protocols. The establishment was fined because an employee was not wearing a  face mask.

Another 16 people were fined in Limassol after 459 checks, and five in Larnaca following 610 checks. Famagusta officers fined ten people after 636 checks, bringing the total number of individuals fined in the last 24 hours to 40, police said.

No violations were reported by Morphou officers, the traffic or port and marine police.
