A 13-year-old boy was caught driving recklessly and dangerously with another minor in the car in Larnaca district, police said early on Tuesday.

As part of prevention of juvenile crime and traffic checks, officers from the Aradippou police station stopped a car for a traffic check around 1.30am on Tuesday.

The driver of the vehicle however ignored the signal of the officers, and instead continued driving recklessly and dangerously, while violating traffic signs, police said.

The car was eventually stopped at Kalo Chorio when officers discovered the driver was a 13-year-old boy, who was driving without wearing his seatbelt.

In the car was another 13-year-old boy as a passenger, police added.

The father of the boy has been informed and is expected to be charged in writing for allowing a minor to drive.
