A 61-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with a case of a suspicious suitcase found outside the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on August 8.

The police had to carry a controlled explosion to destroy the suspicious suitcase. Later that day, authorities confirmed the suitcase did not contain any explosives.

Following his arrest, the 61-year-old was questioned by the police before being charged with harassment, disturbance of the peace and false alarm.

He has been released from custody, but he will have to appear in court at a later date, yet to be announced, the police said in a statement.
