Paphos to mark Alzheimer’s Day

Paphos town hall will be lit purple for three hours on Tuesday night to mark World Alzheimer’s Day.

The initiative aims to support and promote the work of the Ithaki charity organisation for people with dementia, Paphos municipality said in a written statement.

The event will take place between 7pm to 10pm, marking the World Alzheimer’s Day which is celebrated every year on September 21 to raise public awareness.

Alzheimer’s is progressive and degenerative disorder and is the most common form of dementia, which is affecting more and more people as the years go by, the municipality said.

This creates a major medical and social problem that is of great concern to modern societies, the announcement added.
