A 13-year-old boy has been hospitalised after his classmate allegedly pushed him down the stairs at a school in Paphos.

According to secondary education officer Giorgos Koutsides, the boy fell from a staircase of the first floor of his school in Paphos on Tuesday.

It appears one of his classmates pushed him, Koutsounides told the Cyprus News Agency on Wednesday, citing differences between the two students.

The boy was transferred to the accidents and emergency department of Paphos general hospital, where he was diagnosed with multiple bruises and was kept for further treatment. His condition is described as stable.

The secondary school’s principal is expected to invite the parents of both students for a meeting later in the day.

The issue will also be addressed by the district’s education office.
