90 days jail for driving under influence of drugs

Famagusta district court on Tuesday jailed a 43-year-old man for 90 days after he was caught driving under the influence of drugs in February last year.

The man, who is a resident of Famagusta district, also had his driving licence suspended for 90 days after his release from prison.

Police had stopped the man as he was driving in Liopetri on February 3, 2020. He tested positive in a drug test.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man who was caught speeding had his driving licence suspended for 30 days and was issued a €1,000 fine by the Nicosia district court on Monday.

According to police, the man was caught on Sunday driving at 121kph on a Nicosia road where the maximum speed limit is 50kph.
