Police confirm they’re investigating mother for child sexual abuse

abuse

Police on Thursday confirmed they are investigating a mother and her partner accused of sexually abusing and exploiting three of her daughters, but said it is too early to confirm or deny any more details about the case.

Kyriaki Lambrianidou, who heads CID’s vulnerable persons subdivision, confirmed the case is under investigation but refused to take questions about the details of the case, which were reported by local media on Wednesday.

Several outlets reported that the couple is facing 17 charges for producing child pornography, saying that the man requested the woman to carry out obscene acts against the children, further asking them to be recorded and photographed.

At this stage of the investigation it is dangerous to make any statements, Lambrianidou said, adding that “publishing the details is even more dangerous”.

“What we saw yesterday particularly bothers us, because it bothers the victims”.

Victims are promised confidentiality but seeing their case in the media makes them refuse to talk or cooperate, and even to withdraw, feeling they have been exposed, she said.

Both adults have been arrested and are expected to face court in mid-November. Both deny the accusations against them.
