Paphos regional board of tourism (ETAP) and local hoteliers were in London this week to establish contacts at the World Tourism Market (WTM), which opened on Monday.

The three-day travel and tourism expo (1-3 November), returned after a two-year absence due to Covid-19, and is one of the most important annual meetings for the international travel sector.

In addition to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and other travel and hotel associations, agencies, and businesses that were part of the Cyprus Pavilion, the Paphos regional board of tourism was also invited by the deputy ministry to help promote Cyprus as a high quality and diverse destination and further strengthen relations with tourism operators to attract more visitors to the island.

“Despite a low anticipated attendance rate from both business visitors and potential travellers, efforts to promote tourism continued unabated,” head of the Paphos regional board of tourism, Nasos Hadjigeorgiou told the Cyprus Mail.

According to Hadjigeorgiou, the United Kingdom remains Paphos’ prime market for tourism. “Although 2021 was a difficult year for tourism to the region, we remain optimistic that 2022 could be a year of recovery, should the epidemiological situation normalise.”
