Lofou fire brought under control (updated)

A fire near Lofou in Limassol, was brought under control after burning three hectares of wild vegetation and and trees, the fire service said Monday.

The blaze broke out at around 11.15am. Authorities deployed seven firefigthing vehicles and three aircraft, bringing the blaze under control around three hours later.

It was the second fire in the area on Monday after one broke out at 9.20am.

Also Monday,, firefighters were called to put out a fire at the Ayios Sylas industrial estate, in an area known as Vati.

The fire started at around 10am and was brought under control a couple of hours later.

Kettis said it burned around three decares of wild vegetation, dry grass, and a large pile of old car tyres.

Two engines remained in the area.
