Suspected people smuggler arrested

A 27-year-old man is being investigated for aiding third country nationals enter the country illegally after being caught on Wednesday smuggling people in the government-controlled areas near Pyla and Oroklini.

The suspect, was caught transferring five third country nationals in his car, believed to have entered the Republic illegally over the buffer zone.

It is believed the 27-year-old picked up the five persons in the occupied areas and transported them to the Republic, where he was stopped by the officers in the area of Pyla and Oroklini.
