Workshop encourages motivational movement for change

imagine

“Expression through free, physical movement/dance facilitates awareness, clarity and self-growth on the emotional, cognitive and physical levels,” say the organisers of an upcoming movement workshop. “It guides you to embody what really matters to you, what your heart and soul are calling for, to live with purpose.” This is what Anita Michaelides’ movement workshop on November 27 in Nicosia has at its core.

Titled Imagine – Movement for Change, this three-hour workshop is a sensitive, fun and creative practice, suitable for all physical abilities. Held at Dance House Lefkosia, participants will be encouraged to go at their own pace, following how their body wants to and can move. The non-judgmental group format enables deep connection to all aspects of self: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, leading to an overall sense of wellbeing.

Initially one of the aims is to be still, to find that clear place within to unwind, release fatigue and resistance to make room for creativity. In a carefree yet mindful setting for connecting with one’s authentic self, drawing from the Somatic Movement work methodologies of Arianna Economou’s teachings and research, coach and psychotherapist Michaelides will combine her practices of Personal Effectiveness Coaching for Change in the workshop.

The morning will include gentle warm-up stretches, body awareness, grounding, centring aligning, easy movement within the group dynamics and will conclude with exploring and visualising the outcome participants seek through expressive dance improvisation.
