Events to put you in a festive mood

Believe it or not, Christmas is just around the corner! The weather might not have made its mind up but heading towards the end of November getting into a Christmas mood is now officially acceptable. And events with music and handmade crafts are already starting to welcome the Christmas period.

This weekend, a Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair is being set up at Art Studio 55 in Limassol with all of the season’s usual activities. From 10am to 10pm on Saturday, various stalls will sell unique arts and crafts, handmade gifts to buy and tasty snacks and sweets. On Sunday, another Christmas fair is taking place, this time in Larnaca’s Restolake and it is a perfect event for families. Handmade items, locally-made gifts and more will be featured at the fair while families can relax or have lunch at the venue’s kid-friendly café.

Next week, a festive pop-up event will be held at the cosy venue of Prozak Café in Nicosia organised by two artists. Creatives Paintbrushinmytea and Zarburst, who create illustrations, drawings, stickers, cards and more, will be displaying their creations for the holiday season. Christmas cards, prints and many more handmade gifts will be set up on the café’s first floor while drinks and nibbles will be served from the bar.

In Limassol, an official Christmas Avenue will come to life on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 at the Catholic Church on Enoseos Street. Returning for its fourth edition after a year’s absence due to the pandemic, the Christmas Avenue makes its comeback and will feature a fair with gifts, choirs singing Christmas carols, games and more!

Also on Sunday 28 is the Christmas Craft market at Elea Golf Club in Geroskipou. From 10am until 3pm, stall holders will display and sell their quality handmade and imported products such as candles, books, Christmas cards, jewellery, cakes, ceramics and a wide variety of Christmas gifts. Accompanying the fair will be entertainment hosted by Jason Collins from Viva FM, snacks and refreshments as well as a charity tombola on behalf of The Friends Hospice.

For a break from the festive bazaars and to get craftier, a children’s ceramics workshop will take place on November 27 and 28 and December 4 and 5, guiding littles one on how to make Christmas decorations. The Art Hub Visual Arts Laboratories is organising these two-day workshops showing children how to create their own Christmas ornaments.

Several groups will run on each weekend and for a hands-on, festive two days, parents need to pre-reserve a spot. Festive music, gifts, creations and a good mood all around are expected at these events, aiming to put everyone in the holiday spirit because Christmas is nearly here!
