Mini Christmas festivals coming up this weekend

For all of the year’s shortage of events, the Christmas period seems to be making up for it! Even with more complex measures, plenty of events are taking place this weekend. Nicosia is thriving as more markets, pop-up bazaars and mini festivals are happening in the hope of spreading a bit of holiday cheer. Even if it is with masks and Safepasses.

In the old town of Nicosia, on Stasikratous Street, Deejay FM is organising two days of festive fun with plenty to do, eat, drink and enjoy. On Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 8pm, visitors can shop, enjoy street food snacks, find Christmas ornaments and gifts and listen to choirs and Deejay radio FM DJs play festive tunes.

Serving beers and sausages will be the Beer & Beer team from their corner eatery, mulled wine by Artigiano, cocktails from Pull-A-Mango and Think 30, bao buns from Moshi Moshi, sweets from Funky Treats and flower creations from Creativo Ltd. The event is going to be a Christmas-y Stasikratous Wonderland, as the event is called, and since it takes place outdoors, everyone can join.

Also on this weekend but in Aglantzia and later during the day, Mix FM is organising more festive fun. Held at Spyros Kyprianou park, a multi-themed party will take place this Saturday and Sunday with plenty of food, cocktails and holiday treats but also graffiti artists, skaters and craft bazaars. Mix FM’s Urban Xmas Festival will open its doors at 5pm and will welcome guests until 11pm.

Top cocktail bars of the city, Lost and Found Drinkery, Seven Monkeys, Old Souls, Zonkey and That’s Y, will serve holiday-themed drinks while DJs Mr Unkwn, DJ Pro, Cordoba and The Professor play back-to-back urban sets. Street food from The Potbelly, Por Favor, Moshi Moshi, Grill Works and Churros Amigos will keep bellies happy while thrill-seekers can watch Weshaka people skate and put their skills to the test on specially-set up stages.

A live street gallery will also be installed with Cypriot graffiti artists from the Magos 27 team who will share their work and a little bit further down the park a Christmas market will feature handmade creations by local artists. Entrance to the park is free and open to all with a Safepass.
