nutcracker 2

The Pantheon Theatre and Cinema in Nicosia continues to offer regular cultural entertainment and as the year ends, it has a few events and screenings coming up that will entice all sorts of viewers.

On Boxing Day the Royal Opera will present a classical Christmas ballet, which will be screened at the Nicosia theatre. An afternoon screening of the beloved ballet The Nutcracker will take place at 5pm and again on January 2. Dancers on stage will bring Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Hans-Peter to life, dancing along to live music performed by the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, conducted by Koen Kessels.

Continuing the Christmas spirit, yet another festive concert with André Rieu is coming up on December 27, recorded live for the big screen. Christmas carols, romantic waltzes and beautiful melodies such as Jingle Bells, O Holy Night, Hallelujah, a show-stopping performance of Walking in the Air and many more are part of the repertoire. His Christmas with André arrives every December full of cheer and filmed at a stunning palace with over 50 Venetian candelabras and huge arched windows revealing a joyous wintery landscape including ice rinks and ice skaters.

“Christmas is my favourite time of the year and nothing could be better than spending it with my friends, family and fans in my hometown,” says Rieu. “I want to invite my cinema audiences on this beautiful journey to Christmas wonderland.” Enjoy a festive family spectacular show exclusive backstage access, and cinema host Charlotte Hawkins speaking with André about the creation of his musical winter wonderland.
