Man slapped with €3,154 fine for hunting without permit

A 48-year-old Paphos man was fined €3,154 after he was caught by Game Service wardens hunting without a permit, police said Thursday.

The man was spotted by a patrol near the village of Vretsia. He was taken to Panayia police station where he was issued a €3,154 fine for not having a hunting permit and carrying ammunition without having a hunting permit.

Two cartridges and a shotgun were seized, police said.

In a second incident, wardens on patrol near Statos, caught a man, 27, with an assembled shotgun in his car that was not in a case, which is illegal.

The man was issued a €150 fine at Panayia police station.
