Language learning can be a thrilling journey, at times confusing at others fun. A whole rollercoaster of emotions come up when trying to understand the ins and outs of a language and its cultural norms. An event is coming soon to teach those interested a few phrases from numerous languages.

A pop-up language café-style event will take place at Yfantourgeio the Workplace on February 18 as the Centre for Social Innovation invites the migrant residents of Kofinou camp to share some insights from their native tongue. Between 5pm and 8pm, language lovers are invited to meet with the migrants and have a fun, casual afternoon learning a few basic sayings in Arabic, Farsi, French or Somali.

The event is part of the European Tandem Project that encourages language learning opportunities and specifically supports migrants in learning how to teach their language to local adults. The afternoon will include some snacks and drinks and an interactive, relaxed yet educational language workshop that also hopes to bring communities closer together.
