Workshop teaches all about household plants

claroplants 01

The next best thing that came out of the numerous lockdowns besides bread-making, is probably filling the house with plants. Bringing the outdoors in is a new trend for many and aesthetically pleasing as it may be, there is a lot to learn about plant care. Studying the world of plants, their life cycle and needs is an in-depth venture yet sometimes Google searches just aren’t enough. An upcoming workshop in English by Claroplants will teach participants how to propagate plants and get familiar with growing them in water.

Claroplants is a small, woman-owned independent with a collection of unique plant accessories designed by Melina Galati. Their pieces aim at bringing beautiful and colourful ways to display plants at home, drawing inspiration from nature, shapes and forms. The main method Claroplants shares for growing plants is hydroponics, observing the growth of both the plant and the root system.

Their upcoming workshop on March 19 will share just that through a one-and-a-half-hour session at the quaint space of Lilipou Gift Store. Located in the heart of Limassol’s old town, Lilipou hosts the work of local artists but also offers some creative services. Offering uniquely-designed workshops by the artists and creators that collaborate with the gift store is one of them.

The Hydroponic Houseplants workshop will cover the basics of hydroponics, plant selection, propagation, germination and sprouting. The session will also touch on how to grow cactus and succulents in water, how to transform kitchen scraps into houseplants and general plant care and plant styling.

Along with all of the plant wisdom participants will leave with, they will also take home one Claroplants plate, a small glass vase, a propagated plant, some seeds to sprout and succulents or vegetable scraps to grow. All included in the €50 price.

With a growing fanbase online and at pop-up markets, the afternoon workshop on March 19 is now fully booked yet the morning session between 10am and 11.30am has places remaining. The booking process is straightforward, a transaction via the Lilipou website to secure a morning learning about the world of plants and greenifying your home to welcome spring.
