Driver caught doing 204 km an hour

Speeding

A 41-year-old driver was caught driving at over double the maximum speed limit on the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, police said Thursday.

Traffic police signalled the driver, who was speeding at 204kph, to stop, about 15 minutes before midnight on Wednesday

However, police said the driver failed to stop at the officer’s signal and continue his course towards the capital.

Following investigation, the car and the driver were spotted in Latsia and were taken to the local police station for questioning.

Police discovered the car did not have road tax, insurance, or MOT certificate.

The man was charged in writing and will appear in court on April 4.
