Man arrested driving more than twice the speed limit

A 55-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after he was caught speeding at 130kph in an area with a speed limit of 50kph in Paralimni.

He was caught by traffic officers around 40 minutes after midnight.

Police said they charged him in writing and then released him pending trial.

The man will face the Famagusta district court on Monday.
