Famagusta Traffic Police arrested an 18-year-old learner driver on Saturday night (2230), found to be under the influence of drugs.

During the routine patrol, police discovered that the motorist was only in possession of a Provisional Learner’s licence and was unaccompanied by an experienced driver in possession of a valid driver’s licence . He had also failed to use the necessary ‘L’-plates as required by law.

The 18-year-old underwent a preliminary drugs test, which found traces of narcotics in his saliva. A sample was sent for further testing at the General State Laboratories.
