Police arrested a 46-year-old man in Paphos on Sunday for illegal possession of drugs and property after he was seen throwing something suspicious out of his car.

Members of the Polis Chrysochous police station stopped a car driven by the 46-year-old with a 30-year-old passenger, both residents of the town, on Sunday.

Upon seeing the police, the driver was seen throwing a suspicious object out of the car window. Officers immediately found obtained it and determined it was a paper containing items for drug use as well as cannabis.

The man was subsequently arrested for the crime of illegal possession of a controlled drug.

A search of luggage in his vehicle turned up a black loudspeaker for which he did not give a satisfactory explanation as to its possession and he was re-arrested for illegal possession of property.

He was transferred to the Polis Chrysochous police station, where he testified that the property was his.

The two charges are under ongoing investigation.
