Man arrested driving almost twice the speed limit on highway

A man was stopped by police on Sunday night on the highway at almost twice the speed limit.

Traffic police conducting checks on the Larnaca – Kofinou highway stopped a vehicle travelling at 195km per hour, where the speed limit is 100.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was arrested and taken to the police station where he was charged in writing and released.

He was taken before Larnaca District Court on Monday which will try the case on May 30.
