Three days of electro music in the mountains

orphan festival

A resort deep in the forest of Kambia is to transform into an electronic music getaway this May as the Ophan Festival takes place. Some 21 DJs, live performances, Qigong workshops, food trucks and bars will take over the three-day event. Created by the Manic and Spitha teams, the festival will be hosted at the mesmerising Angel’s Hills Mountain Resort on May 6, 7 and 8.

Key to the festival experience is the venue as Angel’s Hills is a very secluded mountain resort blessed with a rich forest. Ophan’s vision rests on creating a community environment where creativity and intimacy can thrive to the sounds of esoteric electronic dance music being transmitted via means of exceptional calibre. The music will flow continuously from beginning to end according to an eclectic music programme curated by Socrates, a seasoned selector of the local electronic music scene.

Day one will begin at 12pm, welcoming guests and a long line-up of DJs playing throughout the night. Apart from music, there will also be live visual performances by Fractal Magus and Mitsi as well as some workshops. The Afternoon Project will provide a hypnotic, ambient and healing experience, preparing the mind and the spirit for late-night rave happenings. A workshop will take place on breathing, by bringing awareness to this process, helping festival-goers to become conscious of how breathing can affect the mind and body.

Additionally, there will be a workshop on Qigong which involves movements that warm tendons, ligaments, and muscles and promote circulation of body fluids. A camping space with amenities is included in the ticket price (€33 pre-sale and online or €42 at the door), for three days in the woods partying to an exclusive electronic scene.
