Lidl Cyprus is firmly ‘On the Road to a Better Tomorrow’, having reaffirmed its corporate responsibility and social contribution commitment, backing the Cyprus Red Cross (CRC) for a ninth consecutive year.

More specifically, the supermarket chain has raised €45,500 towards the work of the CRC, derived from a portion of the sales of its Favorina range of products. Supporting its philanthropic efforts, are its customers, whose consistent awareness and response to this year’s campaign was outstanding.

Expressing a strong message of solidarity, as well as a high sense of responsibility, therefore, Lidl Cyprus Director Spyros Kondylis, handed over a donation cheque to CRC President Fotini Papadopoulou at an event held on May 31.

The €45,500-cheque represented the amount raised via Lidl Cyprus shoppers’ great response to the campaign in support of the Cyprus Red Cross. The drive, organised by the supermarket chain, saw €0.35 from the sale of every Favorina package, put towards supporting the work of the CRC.

“Lidl Cyprus will continue to reaffirm its commitment to a better tomorrow, especially in terms of supporting our fellow human beings, with many more actions, both extraordinary and consistent,” assured Lidl Cyprus Director Spyros Kondylis, remarking on the success of the campaign.

The campaign ran from March to April, with the amount raised earmarked for CRC First Aid teams’ key needs in terms of implementing and developing their services, given recent emergency conditions.

In expressing gratitude, Papadopoulou observed that “since 2013, and for the ninth consecutive year, Lidl Cyprus has warmly embraced the Cyprus Red Cross and identified with its actions.

“Lidl Cyprus, at every opportunity, continues to support the programmes of the Cyprus Red Cross,” she continued, adding that “with the various donations, the size of Lidl Cyprus’ cooperation and support to the Cyprus Red Cross, all these years, has exceeded the amount of €200,000.”
