People smugglers jailed for 2.5 years

Two men aged 24 and 21 were sentenced to two and a half years in prison by the Larnaca court on Thursday for people smuggling.

The two men were first arrested last November 20 after police stopped vehicle that was driven by the 24-year-old, while the 21-year-old was on the passenger seat.

At the back there were four illegal migrants, aged 20 to 28. According to a police statement released after the arrest, the two men helped the migrants enter the Republic illegally.

After police thoroughly investigated the case, the two were found guilty by the Larnaca court and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
