A fire, which broke out at 7.20pm in an area of Katydata village in the Nicosia district, was brought under full control at 8pm after burning an area of 2 decares covered with reeds and low wild vegetation.

According to a statement by the forestry department, 20 people from the forestry department with 5 fire engines and 3 fire fighters from the fire brigade with 1 fire engine were engaged in extinguishing the fire.

The exact causes of the fire are being investigated.
