The most important goal is to maintain the well-being of the people and the development of the economy in the north, Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar said, Turkish Cypriot daily Güneş reported, according to the Press and Information Office (PIO).

Speaking at a workshop titled “Strategic Vision for the ‘TRNC'” – held under the auspices of the Association of Turkish Cypriot Young Entrepreneurs and Ankara University of Technology, Tatar reiterated the claim that in Cyprus there are two “separate peoples and two equal sovereignties”.

“The world has to accept this now. Our sovereignty is fundamental. The moment we lose it, conflict may come back on the agenda. We have to stand up on this issue because we could be dragged to a point where existing economic gains could be lost. This is the struggle that is being waged with the motherland Turkey. The structure here needs to be corrected in a way that it can compete with southern Cyprus. For this, human resources are needed,” Tatar said, according to the report in Güneş.
