Three suspects arrested, three wanted for forging cheques

Three people aged 22, 23 and 26 were arrested on suspicion of forging cheques to steal €4,720 worth of products from a supermarket in Paphos, police said on Tuesday.

They added that three more suspects, aged 24,27 and 37, are wanted for the case.

The six culprits allegedly conspired with each other and took turns visiting the specific supermarket to extort products and money using forged cheques. The cheques were issued on an account which has been closed, Paphos CID chief Michalis Nicolaou told the Cyprus News Agency.

In total nine cheques were deposited between June 1 to June 9, 2022 in Peyia.

The suspects are facing charges related to forgery and circulation of forged cheques.
