The first NFT exhibition at Alpha CK gallery

A Nicosia gallery hosts the latest solo exhibition by young Cypriot visual artist Andreas Stylianou as he presents a complete series of NFTs. The exhibition is a pioneering showcase for both the artist and the gallery as they present a solo exhibition dedicated NFTs for the first time and offer the public the opportunity to view these physically as a collection.

The exhibition titled DYOR (Do Your Own Research) opens on June 22 and will be on until July 3. It bridges digital and physical works of art and presents in a physical setting the practical applications of this new technology. DYOR presents 28 unique NFTs, 11 paintings, two sculptures, one ceramic piece, one with neon lighting and a wall mural. The selection offers the viewer a comprehensive presentation of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art, along with digital art that expresses the artist’s concerns about current social, cultural and economic issues.

This artistic direction is a rather new venture for Stylianou, who travels between London and Nicosia for work. He originally studied architecture in London before attending the Royal College of Art in London and the IE Business School in Madrid. His creative work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Nicosia, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong and this solo exhibition at Alpha CK Art Gallery coincides with his participation in a group show in Munich where he is also presenting an NFT.

Commenting on his reasons for getting involved with NFTs, the artist explains: “I chose to create NFTs because I seek to explore what’s new. A technology that certifies digital creation did not exist until recently, so NFTs are a defining and perhaps historic moment in art. Today, when we are living in a transitional period of new technology alongside the birth of a new movement, I would consider it a personal omission not to pay attention to it and not to explore it artistically.”
