Promising to campaign for the abolition of all Covid-19 measures, another independent has thrown his hat into the ring, bolstering an already crowded field of presidential hopefuls.

Alexios Savvides, president of the teachers’ branch of trade union Isotita announced his candidacy for the February 2023 elections.

According to an announcement from his campaign team cited by the Cyprus News Agency on Tuesday, Savvides’ pre-election pledge is “to abolish all the illegal measures that were adopted on the pretext of the existence of the virus and all the prosecutions and fines will be expunged forever.”

Savvides is also promising to take measures to eradicate illegal migration, to protect the average citizen, employee, trader and self-employed individual and to fight for a truly just society with respect to tradition and our heritage.

He said that he had been encouraged by others to contest what he believes is perhaps the most important and decisive elections.
