The education ministry on Tuesday said it was making arrangements to accommodate Ukrainian pupils at state schools for the 2022-2023 school year.

The ministry said children should be registered at their district’s education offices as soon as possible, stressing the importance of registering on time so that all the appropriate arrangements can be made.

“It is reminded that the law requires children to attend school between the ages of four years and eight months and 15 years, or after they finish lower secondary school, whichever happens first,” the ministry said.

The announcement added that any pupils who went to a state school during the 2021-2022, regardless of their level of Greek, will be able to continue attending the same school.

At the same time, in the afternoon some schools will offer intensive Greek language lessons and distance learning assistance to follow the Ukrainian curriculum, the ministry said.
