Woman stopped from entering courts with ‘explosives’

Police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old woman for illegal possession and carriage of ‘explosives’, the Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nikolaou said on Wednesday.

The ‘explosives’ referred to by the police was 7.62mm cartridge. Paphos court security personnel found the cartridge inside the 30-year-old’s bag during the routine security check,  before entering the courthouse.

The 30-year-old said that she had found the cartridge, discarded on the ground, in Akamas and kept is as a good luck charm.

The woman was subsequently charged and released.
