A 30-year-old man was arrested on Friday night for the illegal possession of ammunition.

Police were tipped off that the person may have had military-grade ammunition at their house, resulting in the issuing of a court warrant to search the premises.

Officers searched the house at approximately 9pm on Friday with the 30-year-old present, where they found a military case containing 200, 7.62 millimetre bullets. The man alleged that he had found the bullets after they had been discarded by someone else.

Aside from the illegal possession of ammunition, police also discovered that the man was illegally residing in Cyprus and was a third-country national.

Paphos police are investigating the case.
