Paphos mayor Phaedonas Phaedonos said the local authority is going ahead with facelift plans for Ayios Kendeas square to create a point of attraction in the city centre.

Paphos is changing, Phaedonos said, noting that the park will include a piazza-style gathering area and a playground, while trees will be planted.

A total budget of €9 million has been earmarked for three major redevelopment projects, which will include the redevelopment works of the traditional centre of the Anavargos district and the southern area of the traditional shopping centre of Paphos with a budgeted expenditure of €5.4mn over a 12-month period.

This particular redevelopment will also include the extension of Anavargos and Vasilikon Street, the western commercial centre, Gladstonos Street from the former police station up to the lights with the junction of Nikodemou Mylona towards the existing Post Office.
