Police arrested a 25-year-old man on Monday in connection with a case of possession and dissemination of child pornography.

The investigation began after police received information through Europol that a social media user had uploaded an image with material of child sexual abuse content through an account.

Examinations carried out by the cybercrime unit led to the 25-year-old suspect, whose residence was searched on Sunday morning by court warrant. During the search, two laptops, two tablets, a computer tower, three external hard drives, and a cell phone were found and confiscated as evidence.

Police interrogated the suspect who admitted to committing the offences and made additional allegations which are being investigated.

The case is under ongoing investigation by the CID cybercrime prosecution branch.
