Paphos police arrested a 34-year-old man after a high-speed chase on Mesogi Avenue, local police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou said on Thursday.

Late on Wednesday night, police attempted to stop the driver for speeding, when he attempted to flee.

Nicolaou said that after a chase on Mesogi Avenue, the car was eventually stopped. Police gave the man a narcotest, after finding a rolled half-finished cigarette, which contained traces of cannabis.

The 34-year-old’s narcotest results came back positive, and he was arrested on charges of speeding, driving without his headlights on, and failing to stop when asked to by police.

He was charge in writing and released.
