A 64-year-old construction worker fell to his death on Monday at the place he was working in Nicosia.

Soteris Antoniou was working on a house renovation when he fell from a four-metre height as he attempted to descend from a mobile aluminium ladder that was on the roof of the residence located next to the house under renovation.

His fall resulted in a fatal head injury.

An ambulance arrived at the scene as did police officers. A state examiner carried out an autopsy on site while an official of the labour inspection department conducted investigations with the police to establish the circumstances under which the fatal accident occurred.
