Nicosia events on Saturday to boost cycling

To mark European Mobility week, the Nicosia municipality is spearheading a cycling event and other activities on Saturday followed in the early evening by a street party.

The events will take place throughout the day until 10pm, the municipality said.

Cooperating in the whole effort are the House, the environment department, the European Parliament office, greater Nicosia municipalities and the police. It is supported by the Nicosia tourism and development company and shopkeepers within the walls.

The main cycling event will begin at 9am from various points and meet up at the D’avila moat at Eleftheria Square.

Starting points are:

  1. From the University of Nicosia (in collaboration with the municipality of Engomi)
  2. From the Strovolos town hall
  3. From the Lakatamia fire station (in collaboration with the municipality of Lakatamia)

To facilitate cyclists, Konstantinou Palaiologou Street will remain closed to vehicles, from its junction with Thermopylon Street to Eleftheria Square, as well as part of Rigenis Street, from Ledra to Perikleous from 10am, until 11pm.

Nicosia municipality is also offering free parking on Saturday at the D’avila moat for all cars with three or more people.

The street party will start at 6pm at Konstantinou Palaiologou and Kostaki Pantelidi streets and at the top of Ledra-Onasagorou-Rigenis with music by MixFM, drinks, food and an information campaign on sustainable mobility.
