The labour ministry on Wednesday announced the launch of free digital skills courses for people aged 55 and over.

The courses are being offered in all districts as part of the digital skills and e-government promotion project, which concerns the training of people aged 55 and over.

The courses will be free and will run for about 30 hours each.

Those interested can learn the basics of how to use computers and smartphones, office software and collaboration tools.

A course on e-government and secure electronic transactions will also be offered, and people will be able through another course to develop digital skills for better health and wellbeing.

The courses will be funded by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility in the context of the government’s Recovery and Resilience scheme.

Those interested can apply online through the website set up by the labour ministry’s productivity centre here  or by calling their local offices in Nicosia (22806000, 22806197), Limassol (25873588) and Larnaca (24812350).
