Pair to stand trial for murder in Paphos

Two defendants were brought before the permanent criminal court on Friday to be tried in the case of premeditated murder of a 37-year-old Syrian.

According to police statement the two defendants, aged 27 and 20, were referred to direct trial before the Paphos court, which will meet on November 22.

They will remain in custody until Monday, when the court will decide whether they will continue in custody or be released until the date of their trial.

The 37-year-old victim died on October 5 in the Nicosia general hospital intensive care unit from head wounds inflicted by his compatriots, who broke into his Paphos apartment in the early hours of September 27.
