A 57-year-old that was electrocuted is in a stable condition at Famagusta General, police said on Wednesday about the man who was injured in a work accident earlier in the day.

According to police, the man is in Famagusta A&E after police received a call a 4pm about a work accident that occurred in the Xylofagou area.

Police rushed to the scene, where they found the 57-year-old, who had been attempting to move animal feed from his truck to a farm silo with crane.

In his attempt to do his work, the crane touched cables of the electricity authority, which electrocuted him and caused a power outage.

The doctors said that his condition is stable but that he will stay in hospital for a day.

The site of the accident was also visited by the labour inspection department, and the EAC, who cut the power to the felled line, until it was repaired.
