Projects amounting to €10 million underway in Polis Chrysochous

Four major development projects amounting to €10 million will be carried out in Polis Chrysochous this year, according to the Mayor Yiotis Papachristofis.

The projects are co-financed by European programmes and national funds.

According to the Mayor of Polis Chrysochous Yiotis Papachristofis, these concern core projects of Polis Chrysochous and Prodromiou, costing €5 million, the redevelopment of the open space in front of the town hall and the open space around the old police station, worth €1.5 million. Another €1.2 million will be dedicated for the construction of 3.2 kilometres of pavements on the northern side of the main road Polis – Latchi.

He added that the landscaping and upgrading of the warehouses in Latchi has been completed at a total cost of €939,000 which concerned the construction project and first phase of the project. Procedures for their conversion into a cultural action space are progressing, Papachristofis said.

The municipality will apply for additional funding of €500,000 from the new programming period 2021- 2027 to purchase equipment and proceed with the second phase of the project.

Furthermore, the mayor listed several projects which are underway. These are the €3 million project for the promotion of archaeological sites in the municipality, the planning for the construction of a canteen on a beach of the area, the planning for the construction of a seaside pedestrian walkway and the planning of the third phase of Latchi.

Meanwhile, president Nicos Anastasiades is expected to inaugurate four development projects worth €9 million in the coming days at the municipality, the mayor said. These are the multipurpose centre for the elderly Eleousa of Kykkos, the Thalassa multifunctional park, the wave breaker project, and the pedestrian and cycle path from Polis Chrysochou to Latchi.
