A unique dance performance is coming to Pattihio Municipal Theatre as the Limassol Municipality presents the Beyond Dance Gala in memory of Lambros Lambrou produced by Nea Kinisi Cyprus New Movement for Dance Companies, Dancers and Choreographers.

The tribute will honour dancer, choreographer, dance teacher and artistic director Lambrou, who in the final years of his rich international career and through his work at the Limassol Municipal Dance Centre, established an active community of dancers.

The evening on January 31 will bring together on stage a number of Lambrou’s ex-students who are currently professionally active in Cyprus and abroad but also young dancers that are active on the island. The dance programme, put together by Elena Gavriel in collaboration with the board of Nea Kinisi, will include a series of short classical and contemporary works, and a new choreography by Sotiris Panagoulias in collaboration with a team of professional dancers based in Cyprus.

A parallel event will also take place – an exhibition at the Municipal Dance Centre, where Lambrou and a large number of dancers and dance students worked. There, a collection of archival and documentation material will be exhibited as a way of remembering and shedding light on other aspects of Lambrou’s multifaceted work and contribution to the dance field of Cyprus. The exhibition will open on January 28, remaining open until January 31.
