President sends message of support to Missing

President Nikos Christodoulides on Monday sent a message of support to the relatives of missing persons for the struggle they have been going through for the past 49 years.

The government continues in every way the efforts to determine the fate of each of the missing persons, Christodoulides said in a written statement on the occasion of the 38th Marathon of Love for Missing Persons.

“I am sending a message of support and solidarity to the relatives of the missing and to the Organisation of the Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons for the drama they have been experiencing for 49 years and the struggle they have been waging to determine the fate of their loved ones,” he said.

The president assured that the government will continue to support in every way the efforts to determine the fate of each of the missing and will continue to assist with all means at its disposal in the efforts of the work of the Commission of Inquiry on Missing Persons.

He also urged the international community to support these efforts.

“We call upon the international community, as well as Turkey, to make available to the Missing Persons’ Committee any information they possess, so that the fate of our missing persons can be determined and the drama of their relatives can be put to an end.”
