Car thefts suspect arrested in Limassol

Police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old man for investigations into a case of car theft, illegal possession of property and possession and use of illegal drugs.

According to police statement, around 1045 pm on Monday police received a tip off that a car reported stolen on May 14, was being driven in Limassol by the 29-year-old.

Limassol police went to the scene where they spotted the car and signalled the driver to stop. The driver did not comply and continued driving, at some point abandoning the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot.

Police pursued and immobilised the suspect and in a search that followed police found a small amount of methamphetamine and a spectacles case with a gold chain, as well as five watches, a laptop computer and a tablet inside the vehicle.

The 29-year-old, who has seven warrants pending against him, was arrested and taken into custody, while his involvement in three cases of car theft, two committed in Limassol and one in Paphos, is being investigated.

The case is under ongoing investigation by Limassol CID and the drug squad.
