Injured 12-year-old in Ayia Napa was likely driving motorbike

A 12-year-old boy found injured in Ayia Napa on Friday was likely driving a motorbike, police said on Sunday as officers tried to uncover the details of the case.

Famagusta police spokesman Steve Theodolou and the most likely scenario is that he was hurt while driving a motorbike.

“Efforts to locate the motorbike are still ongoing. The 12-year-old’s condition is still critical and he is still intubated at Nicosia general hospital with a skill fracture and bleeding in the brain.”

At around 7pm on Friday, Ayia Napa police was informed that on the street next to Ayios Epifanios church, there was young person who appeared to be injured from a traffic collision.

He was initially taken to Famagusta general hospital but due to the severity of the case, was transferred to Nicosia general.

Officers re-visited the scene on Saturday to take pictures of the scene and collect evidence. Investigations continue.
