What’s on at Sarah’s Jazz Club this week

A week full of music is planned at Nicosia’s jazz club starting with an evening with Alex Clarke on Wednesday. The in-demand and versatile young saxophonist, who is emerging on the British jazz scene, is taking to Sarah’s Jazz Club stage to bring sounds from New Orleans to bebop.

Here to present her tunes and skills to the Cypriot public, Alex will put on a jazzy show, accompanied by Aris Constantinou on electric guitar, Costas Challoumas on double bass and Marios Spyrou on drums.

Then on Thursday, Anthea Xydas will perform a mix of well-loved Christmas music, pop, soul and musical theatre repertoire. Joining her on stage will be Guy Creen on keys, Eliana Pavlou on bass, Pavlos Daniel Loucaides on drums and Paola Entafianou as a guest singer.

Returning to Sarah’s Jazz Club on the following evening is The Working Trio, this time joined by guitarist Andreas Yerolatsitis. On Friday, the band (Charis Ioannou, Andrea Yerolatsitis, Christos Yerolatsitis and Marios Spyrou) will perform some of the most iconic jazz tunes from the American songbook, in their own exciting, unique way.

Finally, on Christmas Eve, Sarah’s Jazz Club is hosting a special evening with live jazz tunes, complimentary bubbly cocktails and avgolemono soup. On stage, singer Sarah Fenwick, pianist Dimitris Miaris and drummer Marios Spyrou will perform uplifting and favourite festive jazz tunes to celebrate the night.
