A fire broke out in the basement of the Leventis Art Gallery late on Monday evening.
According to an announcement, police and the fire service were notified at 11.16pm that a fire had started in a room measuring 10×3 metres located in the basement of the Nicosia building.
The fire was brought under control with the help of four fire trucks at 00.34am before it could spread to any other part of the building.
The room contained batteries for the uninterrupted power supply of the building and the cause of the fire appears to be an electrical fault.
